'ORGANISED criminal gangs' have been accused of profiting from 'hugely inflated prices' in the wake of the Oasis ticket chaos.
Tickets for the Manchester band's first gigs in 16 years went on sale on Saturday, but fans were faced with long queues and extortionate prices. It comes after the band warned fans that tickets may be cancelled if they appear on unofficial resale websites.
However, many fans complained about Ticketmaster using 'dynamic pricing' which led to some 'in demand' tickets costing more than double the original admission price of £148.50. A spokesperson for the ticketing company said that it does not set any ticket prices.
Speaking to several broadcasters yesterday, Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell revealed that she managed to buy two tickets to see Oasis after queuing online for hours. But shesai d that she spent 'a bit more' than she was hoping to pay for them.
The House of Commons leader said that the new Labour government will look at issues with ticket touting and secondary ticket sales.
A consultation on new measures to protect consumers is set to start this autumn, but the MP said it may not cover 'dynamic pricing!
