Two more schools hit by crumbling concrete crisis

TWO further schools in Greater Manchester are impacted by the crisis over potentially dangerous crumbling concrete, it has emerged.

More than 150 schools across England have been told by the government they need to shut facilities - or put urgent safety measures in place - because of the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).

It follows the collapse last week of a beam previously thought to have been safe.

Canon Slade High School on Bradshaw Brow, Bolton, has sent a letter to parents informing them of the situation there.

The school will reopen for the start of term but areas will be out of bounds whilst 'remedial work' is carried out they say.

The letter, signed by the school's head Karen Sudworth and CEO of the Bishop Fraser Trust which runs the school, Tania Lewyckyj, says: "There are areas containing RAAC. These are no longer accessible by students or staff whilst remedial work takes place.
