Top court highlights need for accountability in NEET-UG 2024 examination process
SC calls for stringent action, says even 0.001% negligence must be dealt with
  • NEET-UG EXAM ROW

The Supreme Court said on Tuesday that even minimal negligence in conducting the NEET-UG 2024 examination must be thoroughly addressed. Highlighting the intense effort students invest in preparing for these exams, the apex court asserted that litigation related to the National Eligibility-cumEntrance Test (Undergraduate)-2024 should not be viewed as adversarial.

“Even if there is 0.001 per cent negligence on the part of anyone, it should be thoroughly dealt with,” stated a vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti, addressing the advocates representing the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The NTA is responsible for administering the all-India premedical entrance test.

The bench was hearing two separate petitions raising concerns, including the issue of grace marks awarded to students in the exam held on May 5.

“We all know the hard work the children undergo, especially in preparing for these exams,” the bench remarked, adding: “Imagine a person who has played fraud on the system becoming a doctor. He is more deleterious to society.”
