Now, I will also always remember April 4, 2023, as the date when an American president turned himself into authorities in New York City for alleged crimes he committed.
We’ve been saying it all along; no one is above the law, not even Donald Trump. For the last two weeks, we have been hearing that Donald Trump will be indicted and arrested and have to turn himself in. In fact, the former president made the announcement himself a little more than a week ago that he was going to be arrested.
Some political insiders allege that Trump did that to get ahead of the story and to create his own narrative about what is happening. If I were a betting woman, I would have lost the shirt off my back 7 days ago because I declared that Donald Trump would dodge the charges, like he’s dodged other charges, and would skate on the allegations that he paid hush money to Stormy Daniels, a former call girl that he supposedly had an affair with. She was paid one hundred and thirty thousand dollars to “go away.” Only, Stormy Daniels didn’t go away, and she has become Trump's worse nightmare.
My concern at the moment is, will Trump's turning himself in on April 4, become another January 6, 2021, when insurrectionists tried to take over the American government? Already, Trump has been calling on his supporters to protest and demonstrate and show up outside in front of the courthouse where he will have to go before a judge, albeit however briefly.
April 4th for Donald Trump will simply be a matter of formalities. Bottom line is he won’t be at the courthouse for long unless there is some challenge in getting him safely out of the courthouse and back to his destination in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

Why did Joe Biden not keep his promise? His son still deserves justice
Just once. Just once, amid all the times that reporters asked President Joe Biden whether he would give a pardon to his son Hunter, who was facing a possible federal prison sentence, I wish I could have heard Jolly Joe give the sort of response that the late Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley offered to such unwelcome questions.
