BALOCH WOMEN FORUM CONCERNED ABOUT RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS AND CANCER CASES

The residents of Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan) and surrounding areas in Pakistan are facing a severe health crisis marked by a significant increase in cancer and other serious diseases. According to a statement by the Baloch Women Forum (BWF), this alarming trend is attributed to the extraction and dumping of radioactive materials in the Koh-i-Sulaiman mountainous region.

The BWF’s report titled ‘Their denial and our silence both are killing Baloch’ highlights the dire situation faced by locals. Residents have reported a surge in illnesses including bone marrow-related problems, liver cancer, lung cancer, kidney disease, bone cancer, facial tumors, and intestinal cancer. The statement directly links these health issues to the extraction of uranium and the dumping of radioactive waste in the Koh-i-Sulaiman mountains.
