Treasures and trash

One person's trash can be another's treasure. It's an adage that when I was younger I never really understood nor lent much credence to.

It's only really when life turns metaphor into the literal that notions drill through the shell of what we thought was wisdom and then realise that we didn't really know much at all.

Throwaway lines, like clichés, often hold irrefutable truths inside.

And now it's the So What? moment. Living in South Africa we wade through a reality that encapsulates that wee adage every single day. I was reminded of it this week.

I think my mood this week has a lot to do with listening to Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas a few too many times this week.
