EGGCELLENT: THEY'VE BECOME A SYMBOL OF CONSCIOUS LIVING
Truth about your eggs

With health and wellness becoming key priorities, eggs are no longer just a breakfast staple; they've become a symbol of conscious living.

As egg consumption rises globally, the question arises: how do you choose the best eggs for your health and ethical values?

Many of us instinctively grab the box labelled "free-range," trusting it represents a healthier, more humane option.

But do we understand what "free-range" entails?

Misleading 'free-range' label

When we hear "free-range," we often envision hens roaming across lush green fields, basking in the sun, and living their best feathered lives. Sadly, this romanticized view is far removed from reality.

Minimal space: In many regions, "free-range" hens often endure crowded conditions, with up to 10 crammed into just one square metre of outdoor space.

Restricted freedom: These hens are typically housed in large barns with limited, sporadic access to small fenced-in areas - hardly the open pastures consumers imagine.

Health concerns: With so many birds packed together, illness spreads quickly. Sick hens are often left untreated or given antibiotics, raising concerns about antibiotic residues in their eggs.
