In the present case, the petition is filed on November 28, wherein it seeks to annul Mankotia's election and declare Singh the duly elected candidate.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court in the case Harsh Dev Singh Vs UT Of J&K observed wherein the Jammu and Kashmir, former Education Minister and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, JKNPP Harsh Dev Singh has filed a petition challenging the election of BJP's Balwant Singh Mankotia from the Chenani constituency.

In the present case, the petition is filed before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, alleging large-scale corrupt practices, undue influence, and the misuse of religious sentiments to sway voters.
