BJP gag on Kangana after anti-farmer remarks

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday reprimanded actress-turned-politician and its Lok Sabha MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, for her latest remarks on the farmers' agitation and declared that they do not constitute its own views on the subject.

Earlier in the day, Ranaut triggered a controversy when she shared a video on "X" in which she was heard saying. "Bangladesh-like anarchy could have happened in India also in the name of farmers protests. Outside forces are planning to destroy us with the help of insiders. If it wouldn't have been for the foresight of our leadership they would have succeeded."

The statement immediately drew the ire of some BJP leaders, especially since Assembly elections are due next month in Haryana where farmers have a considerable vote share and have been at odds with the BJP over MSP and its handling of the farmers' agitation.
