More than a year and a half after ethnic violence wracked Manipur and left over 250 dead, hundreds injured and thousands displaced, the Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh, on the last day of 2024, called a press conference to proffer a belated apology of sorts.
Addressing reporters in Imphal, the chief minister, who has faced a barrage of criticism from the opposition over his handling of the violence, was in forgive and forget mode and asked all sections of society to do just that.
He also emphasised that there has been relative peace in the state in the last three-four months, which gave him hope that normalcy will be restored in the New Year.
