From Casual Glances to Unwanted Stares: Understanding the Boundaries of Gaze

A recent study by Ayushi Agrawal and Srija Bhupathiraju from IITH, titled "Objectifying Gaze: An Empirical Study With Non-Sexualized Images," used eye-tracking technology to observe the visual gaze patterns of participants viewing images of men and women dressed in neutral attirejeans and a shirt.

The study found that women were consistently subjected to objectifying gazes, with attention directed toward both facial features and sexual body parts.

This highlights the need to understand the distinction between a normal gaze and an intrusive one that objectifies and intimidates.
