Riding on a tremendous bowling performance, India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their Asia Cup Women's T20I clash in Dambulla, here on Friday.
Chasing Pakistan's paltry 109 for victory, India were hardly troubled after an 85-run opening partnership between Shafali Verma (40) and Smriti Mandhana (45) that put them oncourse to a comfortable win reaching 109/3 in 14.1 overs.
Earlier, defending champions India dished out a fine bowling effort led by experienced offspinner Deepti Sharma (3/20) to bowl out arch-foes Pakistan for a sub-par 108.
India, after being asked to bowl first, tasted their first success in the second over itself when pacer Pooja Vastrakar (2/31) dismissed Gull Feroza, caught by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur at mid-on.
