The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has launched a sweeping crackdown across Maharashtra and Gujarat in a high-stakes money laundering investigation. The probe centres around Rs 125 crore in alleged hawala funds deposited into accounts at Malegaon Merchant Bank, held by 12 unemployed youths.
Early Thursday, the ED conducted multiple raids across 23 locations, targeting properties linked to Malegaon-based trader Siraj Ahmed Harun Memon. Memon is accused of funnelling over Rs 125 crore through shell companies via illicit transactions. These accounts were reportedly misused to fund election activities.
