The count of patients suffering from monsoon ailments has increased in the past two weeks. During the period, Mumbai recorded 694 gastroenteritis cases followed by dengue (166), malaria (282) and swine flu (53). According to the BMC's health department, 3,000 beds in major and suburban hospitals are ready to tackle the surge. The timings of outpatient department services have been extended from 4pm to 6pm to cater to the increasing number of patients.
