Pakistani security forces launched a massive operation after midnight on Tuesday and cleared the Blue Area of the federal capital and dispersed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters.

The whereabouts of Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and wife of former PM Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, were not initially clear.

PTI's media cell put out a statement saying, "In light of the government's brutality and plans to turn the federal capital into a 'slaughterhouse' for unarmed citizens, we are announcing the temporary suspension of our peaceful protest," read the statement issued by the party's central media cell.
