State Bandh call Aug 24

The shocking incident of sexual assault on two four-yearold children at a Badlapur preschool and other similar incidents in recent past have given enough fodder to political parties to launch a campaign against the government.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi has accordingly given a call for state bandh on August 24.

The decision was taken at an MVA meeting on Wednesday. State Congress chief Nana Patole, the group leader of the party in the state assembly, Balasaheb Thorat, the leader of the opposition Vijay Wadettiwar, NCP SCP state chief Jayant Patil, former home minister Anil Deshmukh, MLA Jeetendra Awhad and Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut were present at the meeting.

Though it was called to discuss seat-sharing for the upcoming elections to the state assembly, the leaders unanimously added the Badlapur incident to their agenda.
