Why Kamala could not bloom in White House
The Free Press Journal|November 07, 2024
It was one question that led to the defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
Why Kamala could not bloom in White House

"What, if anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?" co-host of ABC's "The View" Sunny Hostin asked Harris, hoping for a strong statement.

"There is not a thing that comes to mind," she fumbled after a pause. As she realized she had a problem, she tried to make up saying she would put a Republican in her Cabinet. But that reply was seen as weak and came too late.

It was a moment that encapsulated one of the biggest challenges facing her campaign – which, in the end, proved insurmountable. The Trump campaign latched on to this one moment and said Harris would continue the terrible and unpopular policies of her boss Biden. Even as she tried to distance herself from Biden, she refused to name her differences with President Biden – including a higher capital gains tax rate, a bigger child tax credit and a tougher border policy. She did not want to be disloyal to the man who had picked her as his running mate and then stepped aside for her.
