More than 200 shells have been returned to English Heritage, which will put some of them on display in Northumberland this week.
It's a story that shines a light on bigger issues including colonialism, slavery and the human impact on the natural world. Additionally it tells the little known story of the woman who collected them, a pioneer collector called Bridget Atkinson.
