Undercover officer 'was reckless in fathering a child'

Bob Lambert, the police spy, was accused of failing to give any consideration to the well-being of the woman, known as Jacqui, whom he deceived into a relationship.

Lambert admitted that she and another woman would not have consented if they had known that he was an undercover officer.

Yesterday he told the undercover policing inquiry that he had told his superiors about his impending fatherhood and the second relationship.

Lambert, a key inquiry figure, is for the first time being questioned formally in public about his controversial deployment infiltrating animal rights activists and anarchists since he was exposed in 2011.

During his deployment in the 1980s, he had sexual relationships with four women without informing them that he was married and was an undercover officer.
