MEMBERS of a South Devon housing co-operative have donated a caravan which will be taken to Ukraine after a recent plea by a man forced to flee the country who is leading an aid convoy.
Maksym Litvinov is taking the caravan filled with supplies, as well as a 4x4 vehicle bought by donors, in the latest aid mission from Plymouth.
Mr Litvinov is from Kharkiv but was forced to flee when Russian forces invaded his city and destroyed his home, business and cars. He now lives in Plymouth with his family as guests in the family home of veterinarian Edmund Shillabeer.
But he said recently he feared for the safety of his family and friends still in Ukraine after his mother’s home – where he grew up – was damaged by a Russian shell which landed nearby.
