GOALKEEPER Mike Cooper will play his first game at Home Park since January when Plymouth Argyle take on Sheffield Wednesday tonight in a clash of two of the bottom four teams in the Championship.
The highly-rated Cooper, who celebrated his 24th birthday earlier this month, made a successful comeback from a serious knee injury in the Pilgrims’ 0-0 draw away to West Bromwich Albion.
Now he is set to run out at Theatre of Greens again and his return is against Wednesday, who were the opponents when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees.
It happened during the League One game at Hillsborough on February 4 when Cooper landed awkwardly after he was challenged by Josh Windass as both players tried to get to the ball first outside the Argyle penalty area.
Cooper said: “I don’t think there was any foul play. I did hear a few things in my ear when I was on the floor though, so that has been remembered since then.”
Asked about his memories of the incident which led to his long-term injury, Cooper said: “Just landing, and feeling and hearing the pop. Then from there going through all the procedures - surgeries, rehabs, getting off the crutches, etc. Then every week I was doing something new in the gym.
