Darcey is on point to do honours at lights' switch-on

FORMER Strictly Come Dancing judge Dame Darcey Bussell will switch on the Barbican 's Christmas lights next month - and you could join her in doing so. Bosses at Plymouth Waterfront Partnership (PWP) are delighted the world-famous ballerina and TV star has agreed to preside at the event on Saturday, November 18, and want a Plymouth "community hero" to share the honour of lighting up the waterfront with her.

Dame Darcey, who was named as chair of the board of trustees at Plymouth Theatre Royal in April, said: "I'm thrilled to have been asked to switch on the Barbican Christmas lights this year alongside the community hero. Having taken up the role of chair at the Theatre Royal earlier this year, my husband and I can't wait to enjoy the waterfront and city during the festive period."
