Dewsnip's in no rush to find the right candidate

The Pilgrims have received over 100 expressions of interest in the Home Park vacancy, caused by the departure of Steven Schumacher to Championship rivals Stoke City on Tuesday.

Dewsnip and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell will likely take charge of Argyle for their four games in 10 days over the Christmas and New Year period, starting with the visit of Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City tomorrow. The Pilgrims are open-minded at the moment about the type of person they will appoint, with the decision-making process being led by Dewsnip, chief executive officer Andrew Parkinson and football secretary Zak Newton.

Schumacher has been followed to Stoke by assistant manager Mark Hughes as well as coaches Darren Behcet and Peter Cavanagh, and Dewsnip does not expect any other backroom staff to leave, while he also confirmed his future was with the club.

Dewsnip stated that Argyle had drawn up a list of potential managerial candidates even before the departure of Schumacher in the event of him leaving at any time, which was always a possibility given the considerable success he has already had in his career and he had started to be linked with other clubs.
