A GROUP of university students have launched a fundraising campaign to help pay for the repatriation of a “kind, caring and incredibly hardworking” Nigerian student, who suddenly passed away earlier this month.
Ebubechukwu Anumba – who was known by his middle name of Gabriel to his housemates and friends – had come to the city in September to study Computer Science at the University of Plymouth.
His housemate Jacob Jackson, who has launched the ‘Gofundme’ fundraiser, spoke warmly about Gabriel and about the loss felt by those the other housemates who lived in the shared student accommodation in Gordon Terrace, following the discovery of Gabriel’s body on Sunday October 15.
Police have confirmed they attended the address after being alerted to the unexplained death of the 25-year-old.
Jacob said: “Gabriel was a truly remarkable individual who touched the hearts of everyone he met during his brief but impactful time in England.
