Injuries have blighted his career, though, and he has spent far too much time for his liking on the treatment table, or rehabbing in the gym, rather than out on the pitch.
Galloway joined Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 2021 after impressing on a pre-season trial but has played just 37 league games since then because of his fitness record.
The 27-year-old missed out on the Pilgrims’ run-in to the League One title last season due to long-term injury and missed the first four months of the current campaign but he is back playing now.
In just his second start since his comeback, Galloway put in a man-of-the-match performance at leftback as Argyle drew 0-0 away to Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday, despite having defender Dan Scarr sent-off in the 25th minute.
They now have two very important games at Home Park before Christmas, first against bottom club Rotherham United today and then Wayne Rooney’s 16th-placed Birmingham City on December 23.
Galloway told Herald Sport: “It feels amazing to be back. When you are injured it’s tough seeing the boys go out and play, and a lot of frustration when you are in the gym and not training with the guys preparing for the games.
“I feel great, the physios really looked after me well and made me get back to a good level. The hard work continues, recover and get ready to go again on Saturday, and just make sure the body is feeling good.”
The Zimbabwe international had not long been back from a previous absence when he suffered a hamstring injury in April and missed the exciting finale to the 2022/23 season.
