Grieving friends 'overwhelmed' by generous support

STUDENT'S BODY CAN NOW BE REPATRIATED TO HOMELAND

GENEROUS and warm-hearted people have helped a group of grieving University of Plymouth students raise enough money to help ensure the family of a young student who unexpectedly passed away get to lay him to rest.

Hard-working orphan Ebubechukwu Anumba known to his housemates and friends as Gabriel - tragically passed away unexpectedly in his sleep earlier this month. Distraught housemates discovered his body on the morning of Sunday, October 15 at their shared home in Gordon Terrace.

At present, the 25-year-old's death remains unexplained but friends noted how Gabriel studied all day and then worked a delivery job late into the night to be able to afford his tuition fees, as the young Nigerian had no access to government funding or student loans, which left him exhausted.

His housemate Jacob Jackson launched the fundraiser to help Gabriel's remaining family repatriate his body to Nigeria, otherwise the student could have ended up in a local pauper's grave with no family to attend his funeral.
