Heartbreak as dead cat found left in bin

A CAT owner has been left heartbroken after her cat was found in a communal bin a mile from her home.

Dawn Lapthorn, who runs Plymouth (UK) Pets Lost & Found, said she was alerted to the tragic find through a social media post which revealed a dead tabby cat was discovered in a refuse bin at King Street flats in Stonehouse on Sunday, December 1.

She said: "There was a post on our group site, someone saying a friend of hers had walked through the car park at the estate and was putting something into a bin and as she looked inside she found the cat in the bottom.

"I responded to the message, which asked if someone could go and retrieve the poor thing and I thought that if it wasn't retrieved the owner would never get closure, never get to say goodbye."
