Help to create a 'moss carpet'

THOUSANDS of people are being asked to help craft a mossy carpet - and draw attention to the climate emergency.

Art and Energy - a group of artists and makers using their creative skills to inspire climate action - is hoping more than 50,000 people will contribute to their mass-participation artwork.

Colourful pompoms, crochet and embroidery resemble the look and feel of a patchwork of moss, which is vital for carbon-rich and biodiverse landscapes.

The carpet, which currently measures 15 metres, has been on display at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, before it moves around the country later this year. With a hand from the public, Art and Energy hope the carpet will stretch to 50 metres by the summer, and 100 metres by the end of 2024.
