Hayman’s (26.83) excellent form wasn’t curtailed to just the scoring phase of play as he contributed a 17-darter in his fine 3-0 singles success.
Team-mate Paul Goundry was also in good nick with a 17-dart leg of his own during his 3-1 success that also included two of the three maximums from the Devonport outfit.
Lee Rodmell contributed the other three treble visit in another 3-1 triumph, whilst the high checkout honours was shared by two players.
The man Rodmell defeated, Nigel Bassett, added a 100 checkout in the solitary leg he won, whilst Rodmell’s stablemate, Paddy Archibald, also fired 100 in a single visit. That Archibald checkout was one of 11 three-figure efforts plundered by the former Cornwall county marksman.
Another 11-ton hitter in the match was Dale Halford, who added a dectet of three-figure scores despite ending on the wrong end of a heavy defeat. No fewer than seven of the 12 on display reached at least ten scores of a ton or more during a high-quality 9-2 win for Octagon at Bluebird A.
Lee Hellings and Fred Goldsmith shared honours of top scoring player with 13 tons each, whist the trio of Alfie Ford, John Mann, and Neil White all reached ten ton-plusses each.
For the defeated Compton side, Jack McMinn was the heaviest scorer with twelve tons whilst Glenn Halford chipped in eleven tons overall.
Four of the 100 three-figure scores in the match were maximums as Mann’s brace of 180s was added to by solitary efforts from Goldsmith and team-mate Quinton Taylor.
Mann’s (27.72) maximums both came in a fine 3-0 success that contained a 501 leg in 12, whilst Goldsmith contributed his in a doubles win that was claimed in a 601 doubles leg with White that was won in just 17 darts.
