The promotion-winning Pilgrims’ total attendance for their 23 home League One games this season was 358,321, at an average of 15,579 per match.
That is a sizeable increase from 301,990 and 13,130 respectively from the 2021/22 campaign, and the figures are the second highest in 60 years.
The only season when Argyle have been watched by larger crowds was in 2004/05, the first season after promotion to the Championship had been achieved.
The average attendance was 16,419 as Bobby Williamson’s Pilgrims finished in 17th position, three points clear of the relegation zone.
Now, Argyle will be returning to the second tier of English football for the 2023/24 campaign under the leadership of Schumacher.
The Green Army were treated to some superb performances and results this term as Argyle won 20 of their 23 home league games, and lost just twice - 2-0 to both Port Vale and Lincoln City.
It has been the best home record anywhere in the top four divisions in English football and propelled them towards automatic promotion, and possibly the League One title too.
