It is one of 25 hospital projects promised under the Conservatives now being reviewed by Labour.
The schemes are part of the New Hospital Programme in England. But Health Secretary Wes Streeting said the programme promised by the Tories in their 2019 election manifesto - was "undeliverable and unaffordable".
The government said 20 schemes would be able to proceed and would not be part of the review - but all options would be looked at for the remaining 25, including Derriford.
South Devon MP Rebecca Smith launched a petition calling for Derriford Hospital's funding to be protected, saying the uncertainty had left patients "deeply concerned".
It was tabled at the House of Commons at the end of October and she has now received a response from the government.
