The Grade II listed pub was shut for seven months until Dan and Beth took on the lease from owner St Austell Brewery in September. The previous tenants had struggled with increased costs and put their company into liquidation after five years running the hostelry. But Dan and Beth are confident that despite the current economic situation gripping hospitality, with mounting inflation and interest rates remaining high, they can revitalise The George.
The couple have already turned another St Austell Brewery tavern, Mannamead's Tap and Barrel, into a success and Dan said: "We've run that one for three years. It's been amazing."
