It was a harrowing experience for Parkway who, on the day, were poor collectively and individually and despite taking an early lead were comprehensively and deservedly beaten by a superior side in all areas.
Whilst the effort was generally there, the quality and organisation weren’t and the management will have a tough task in the limited time available rebuilding confidence which will have been severely dented by this performance and result before tomorrow’s trip to tenth-placed Poole Town.
Parkway, who were beaten 7-0 by Hungerford on the opening day of last season, got off to the perfect start by taking the lead in the second minute. Joe Wragg’s shot was pushed away by Ryan Clarke in the home goal with a handball being spotted by the referee and Shane White (pictured) confidently despatching the spot kick.
That’s about as good as got for Parkway as the hosts began to dominate and on 11 minutes, Jacob Bancroft’s low cross from the left was turned into the bottom corner by Ellis Watts.
