It is now an unprecedented 12 successive postponements the club have faced, both home and away, as the British weather causes havoc to the speedway calendar and the Gladiators in particular, who have not ridden since a narrow 48-41 loss at Redcar way back on June 23.
Such is the backlog of fixtures that the BSPA has extended the season to September 10 with the Gladiators’ meeting with the Bandits likely to take place in early September and Phillips may even explore the possibility of racing on a Saturday night – something he plans to do next season anyway.
However. It was the late call-off of Tuesday’s meeting that left him frustrated – and out of pocket – with the meeting finally being called off after the scheduled start time.
