NEIL Dewsnip revealed the Plymouth Argyle players were 'devastated' not to have won their away Championship match against Cardiff City after they had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the Boxing Day clash.
Morgan Whittaker got his second goal of the game in the 66th minute to put the Pilgrims on level terms and they went on to have the better of the play, and the scoring chances, after that. The closest they came to getting a third was when substitute Bali Mumba shot against the underside of the crossbar from close range.
It was a second successive draw for managerless Argyle under the interim leadership of Dewsnip, assisted by Kevin Nancekivell, since Steven Schumacher left for Stoke City last week.
Dewsnip said: "We are disappointed. The players were devastated in the dressing room they have not won the game. I thought we had more than enough chances to do so and it's an opportunity missed, quite frankly."
On Mumba's opportunity, Dewsnip said: "He knows that he's let himself and his team-mates down. He should score really shouldn't he?"
Argyle were captained by defender Lewis Gibson with Joe Edwards named among the substitutes and Jordan Houghton was ruled out by an illness which hit him on Christmas Day.
Having recovered from a 3-1 deficit to draw 3-3 with Birmingham, the Pilgrims showed their fighting spirit again at Cardiff after falling 2-1 behind to a 47th minute strike from Karlan Grant.
Dewsnip said: "The players are incredibly tight as a group. They are incredibly resilient, this never-saydie attitude is amazing so you know they are going to keep going.
