A FORMER rail line which was converted into a cycle path has finally reopened following repairs which saw it closed since April.
The Laira Cycle Bridge had to be closed in April to both bicycles and pedestrians due to safety concerns over the "integrity of its surfacing". Barriers were put in place at either end after users noted that some of the floor panels on the bridge were coming loose.
The maintenance work was expected to begin soon after and be completed by June.
However, delays followed and work did not actually start until July with Plymouth City Council telling The Herald that "it took some time to agree the best and most economical way of repairing the bridge."
