PLYMOUTH CITY SUPER LEAGUE
Shears also claimed a leg in 15 darts; the best of the match as he defeated his individual opponent by a 3-1 scoreline.
Supporting Shears was Danny Allen, who claimed the evening’s only maximum on his way to 11 ton-plusses personally.
Of the defeated team, Steve Hiscox performed the best with 11 tons of his own as well as a crucial 18-darter in a 3-2 singles success.
Harry Bull continues to bely his tender years, of both experience and age, with performances like the one he put in for Raffles against Saltram in a 10-1 win for the Mutley team.
Bull threw the highest checkout of the week; a 126 three-dart combination on his way to 14 ton-plusses overall. Bull also added an 18-dart leg in his 3-1 success over Reg Matthews, which was equalled and bettered three times by the other 11 competitors on display.
Warren Gordon added legs of 18 and 17 in Saltram’s only point of the match, which was claimed with by a 3-0 score.
Alec Turner netted himself a leg in 17 during a 3-1 win, whilst Danny Bull had to withstand a 16-darter from Paul Hendy to run out a 3-1 winner.
In the entertaining clash, there was also four maximums as Danny Bull was joined by team-mate James Ewing, Reg Matthews and Warren Gordon in achieving that particular feat.
That effort from Ewing was one of 12 for him personally on a night rounded off by a 3-2 individual success in the final tie of the match.
The relentless Octagon continue to plough an unchallenged path to the title after their 11-0 derby win over bottom side Duchy B.
