PROTESTERS who stopped the remaining Armada Way trees from being cut down have denied being 'extremists!
The action group Straw (Save the Trees of Armada Way) was incensed when former council leader Richard Bingley said the city council's new Labour administration had "kowtowed to a tiny minority of extremist environmental protestors".
Straw welcomed Labour leader Tudor Evans' decision to send the scheme back to the drawing board.
A spokesperson said: "It's the right decision." Straw's members denied being extremists or acting illegally at any time.
