WORK has begun to tidy up Central Park after more than 1,000 people signed a petition urging Plymouth City Council to reopen fenced-off areas in what has been described as an “eyesore moonscape”.
Plymouth City Council has taken to social media to admit that parts of the park look like “a building site” and confirm it has restarted work.
The authority said it understood the frustration felt by park users after months of delay on a project to create ponds and a wildlife area.
Council chiefs said work had begun to cut back vegetation and tidy the park and it is in talks with a contractor about completing the remaining engineering work on the ambitious project.
On social media, people have said the park looks “a state” and they “just want our park back”.
