The Young Carers in Schools Programme helps primary and secondary schools improve outcomes for Young Carers and celebrates good practice through the Young Carers in Schools Award.
Coombe Dean School has achieved the Bronze Award in recognition of the work it does to help young carers in the school.
Some young people can face many challenges on a daily basis which means simply getting to school can be a real struggle. The WE CARE group at Coombe Dean supports students who are young carers and those who have been affected by bereavement and has evolved rapidly over a short space of time.
One Year 7 student, whose mum was diagnosed with a rare condition and whose brother also faces challenges, said: "I know that I and my brother do more around the house than others my age to help my mum.
