Authorities say they are “investigating all leads” in their search for the British teenager who went missing after attending the NRG music festival with his friends last Sunday.
The last known location of the apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, placed him on a path in the mountainous terrain of the Rural de Teno national park at 8:50am.
However, his mother has now revealed there may be a new last sighting of her son some 10 hours after he was last officially seen.
Debbie Duncan, 55, flew out on Tuesday to help the search for her son and claimed someone had seen him looking “worse for wear” as he sat on a bench at around 6pm on Monday.
The sixth day of searches began after the administrator of an official Facebook page set up to help find Mr Slater said somebody had logged into his Instagram account who was not him.
A family friend issued a warning yesterday on an official Facebook page that has been providing updates on the search, adding that people who had been “hacking” the social media accounts of Mr Slater’s family were “sick in the head”.
Meanwhile, Ms Duncan told the Mail Online: “Someone has come forward to say they saw someone who they thought was Jay walking back down the road sat on a bench.
