While 20 people have so far died in Siwan, five persons lost their lives in the neighbouring Saran district.
Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Raj confirmed the death of 25 people due to consumption of toxic substances in Siwan and Saran districts since October 15. Several others are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.
Talking to mediapersons after attending a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the DGP said, "A special investigation team has been set up to conduct a thorough investigation. Those involved in such incidents will face sternest action under the law."
