A SPECIAL forest department team from Wayanad successfully rescued a six-year-old male leopard found trapped in a wild boar snare at a rubber plantation in Kannur's Muzhakkunnu, Kakkayangad. The leopard was later relocated to the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary.

The animal was first spotted Monday around 6.30 am by Prakashan, the plantation owner, who had gone for his routine tapping work.

"I heard a dog barking loudly and running away. When I approached the area, I saw a wild animal near the trap, but couldn't identify it. Frightened, I ran back and called my brother and neighbours. They climbed a tree to get a clearer view and confirmed it was a leopard," Prakashan recounted.
