IN THE wake of a fatal accident involving Sabarimala pilgrims on Aryankavu - Punalur Road, the District Disaster Management Authority held an emergency meeting to conduct safety inspections, on Friday. The meeting decided to take strict action against motorists who flout rules. Police, excise and motor vehicles department will strengthen night patrolling and steps will be taken to remove obstructions to vehicular movement.
Additional District Magistrate G Nirmal Kumar who presided over the meeting at the Rest House in Punalur said that measures would be taken to reduce chances of accident in the area through safety inspections.
