A 23-year-old youth, named Surya, ended his life after he lost Rs 85,000 that he borrowed from others and invested in a company for a task-based cyber fraud a few days ago. Cases on task-based cyber crimes are on the rise in Mangaluru and victims are especially those who are in their 20s or the job-seeking youth.
Task-based cyber crime is a type of financial fraud where scammers lure victims into working from home or investing in fake opportunities.
