Paper Leak: 'Fasting' PK arrested, granted unconditional bail shortly
The New Indian Express Nagapattinam|January 07, 2025
IN a dramatic turn of events, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor was arrested early Monday for illegally staging a fast-unto-death protest at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. However, he was granted unconditional bail just a few hours after being sent to a 14-day judicial custody.

Kishor told newspersons that the court earlier granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 on the condition that he would not participate in protests that disrupt law and order. He refused to fill the bail bond and requested the court to remove the condition, saying peaceful protest was his right, which the judge rejected. The police then took him to Beur Model Central Jail but could not imprison him in the absence of requisite documents.
