PM Lauds Kalahandi FPO for Bringing in 'Vegetable Revolution'
The New Indian Express Sambalpur|December 30, 2024
PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the efforts of farmers under Agrahichasi Producer Company - a farmer producer organisation (FPO) - in Kalahandi, who have turned eight gram panchayats (GPs) into a vegetable hub for the region known for unemployment and seasonal migration.

The New Indian Express had profiled the FPO in its Brightside section on December 1. In his monthly radio programme 'Mann-ki-baat', Modi said the FPO is writing a new story of success despite a paucity of water and resources in the region.

The initiative was started by 51-year-old Krushna Nag in Sanchergaon village under Golamunda block and with the help of a few lead vegetable grower-entrepreneur farmers, the FPO was registered in 2022 with just 10 members from eight GPs.
