THE Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University (Amendment) Bill 2024, which was cleared by the Assembly on Tuesday, was passed in the Council amid high drama on Wednesday. The bill proposes to replace the governor with the chief minister as the chancellor of the RDPR University.
The opposition, which wanted to defeat the bill, lost by one vote. While 26 Council members supported legislation, 25 opposed it.
