The casualty occurred late Saturday night in South 24-Parganas district, where a Trinamul Congress worker, Abu Salem Khan, was beated to death in the Kultali area by unknown miscreants. His head was completely smashed. Local people said that the area has been tense since the end of the polls on Saturday evening, with sporadic clashes continuing. Tension escalated as time passed, and finally, late at night, Khan died in the ongoing clashes.
