Prime Minister Narendra Modi today slammed the previous Congress Pgovernments for being utterly corrupt, and charged that the Congress has become so blinded in worshipping just one family that from being anti-BJP, it has now become anti-India.
“They (Congress) are so engrossed in selfish interests that they have begun raising doubts about the achievements being made by our country,” Mr Modi said while addressing a huge gathering at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh this afternoon during the bhoomi pujan ceremony of a memorial worth Rs 100 crore for Rani Durgavati on the late tribal queen’s 500th birth anniversary.
He accused the Congress of numerous scams during its long rule in the country. “When we came to power in 2014, we got more than 11 crore fake names removed from various government offices. These were the names of people who were never born but the Congress leaders were diverting money from various welfare schemes in their names,” the PM asserted.
“We carried out a cleanliness drive there too,” Mr Modi pointed out. He said that as a result of cleansing the system of the Congress party’s corruption, more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore is now actually reaching all the intended beneficiaries.
